kwetsbaar - gevoelig - symbolisch
Het zijn deze drie woorden die mijn fotografie het beste omschrijven.
Mijn belangstelling ligt voornamelijk bij de portret- en modelfotografie omdat ik mensen mooi en boeiend vind. Ik hou van ingetogen foto's met een diepere laag. Daarbij maak ik graag gebruik van symboliek of een van tevoren gekozen thema. Dat geeft mijn foto's die extra laag waarmee ik graag werk. Maar ook een foto waarin het accent ligt op het gezicht, een vorm of het lichaam is prachtig om te maken.
Ik ben van mening dat het ontstaan van een goede foto een samenspel is, waarbij de rol van het model even belangrijk is als die van de fotograaf. Fotograferen is een wisselwerking.
De fotografen uit het analoge tijdperk zeiden vaak dat het negatief slechts het uitgangspunt was en dat de echte foto pas gemaakt werd in de donkere kamer. Digitaal is dat niet anders. Zonder uitzondering zijn mijn foto's dan ook met de computer nabewerkt. Daarna worden ze geprint en in een passe-partout gezet. Want een foto is toch het mooiste als die met zorg is afgewerkt.
fragile - sensitive - symbolic
It is these three words that reflect my photography best.
My interest lies mainly in portrait and model photography because I find that people are beautiful and fascinating. I love to create almost introvert images with a deeper layer. I like to use symbols or a specific theme. They give my photos the extra layer that I like to work with. But it is also beautiful to create images in which the accent lies on the face, or a body shape.
I believe that creating a good image is a collaboration in which the role of the model is as equally important as that of the photographer. Photography is interaction.
Photographers from the analogue era often said that the photographic negative only was the starting point and that the real photo was being made inside the dark room. This is no different in digital photography. Without exception, my photographs are edited on the computer. And then they are printed and matted. Because a photograph is at its best when it is finished with care.
